WEBBER ANCESTRY
My maternal great-great-grandfather was William Webber who was born in Bampton, Devon, England in about 1816.
On September 17th. 1837 he married Jane Greenslade (daughter of Benjamin Greenslade) at St. Michael’s and All Angels Church in Bampton. According to the marriage certificate Jane was a librarian, yet she had to “make her mark” on the document.
William was a labourer in a local limestone quarry, and their home in 1841 was “Westbrook Kiln”.

In 1851 the family was living in High Street, Bampton, which was to be the family home for the next thirty years.
